SECTION 2: FIRST AID MEASURES

Swallowed: Rinse the lips and mouth with water, give water to drink, and seek medical attention.

Eye: Flush with copious amount of water. If symptoms persist seek medical attention.

Skin: Sluice with water and, if itching persists, seek medical attention.

Inhaled: Remove to fresh air. If symptoms persist seek medical attention.

 

SECTION 3: FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Specific Hazards: Non-flammable. No fire or explosion hazard exists.

Extinguishing Media: Use water-fog, foam, carbon dioxide or dry.

 

SECTION 4: HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling: Handling, installing or removing the product may result in some dust and airborne fibre; minimize eye or skin contact and inhalation during handling, installation and removal. Observe good personal hygiene including washing hands before eating. Remove protective equipment before entering eating areas. Rockwool products, once installed, do not release dust or fibres, and does not cause any health effects.

Storage: Store in cool place, dry area, removed from foodstuffs. Ensure packages are adequately labeled, protected from physical damage, and sealed when not in use. Avoid packaging being stored under UV light (direct sunlight) for long periods.

 

SECTION 5: HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

Rockwool may cause temporary irritation to skin.

 

SECTION 6: EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION

Eyes and Face: Wear safety glasses with side shields and a face shield. Protective Clothing: Long sleeve, Loose-fitting clothing is recommended while using this product.

Skin: Rubber gloves are recommended while handling this product.

Personal Hygiene: Washing of exposed skin with soap and water at the end of a shift or as required is recommend.

COAL TAR PRODUCTS
 
SECTION 1: HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION

A black solid with no odour.It has an aromatic, tarry odour at elevated temperatures.

Potential Health Effects

Ingestion:     May cause vomiting.

Inhalation:    Harmful effects not expected.

 
SECTION 2: FIRST AID MEASURES

Eyes: Flush eye with water for 15 minutes. Get medical attention.

Skin: If material has dried, remove with waterless hand cleaner, then wash with soap and water.

Ingestion: Get medical attention immediately. If ingested, give vegetable oil and induce vomiting, taking care to                     prevent aspiration.

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air and get medical attention if cough or other symptoms develop.

 

SECTION 3: FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Fire Fighting Equipment: As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-demand and full protective gear.

Fire Explosion: None

Fire Fighting Procedures: Use alcohol foam, carbon dioxide, or water spray when fighting fires involving this material. Water cool sealed containers in area of fire to prevent rupture due to steam generation.

Explosion Hazards: None

Extinguishing Media: Use water fog, carbon dioxide, foam, or dry chemical to extinguish the fire.

 
SECTION 4: HANDLING AND STORAGE

Storage Recommendations & Precautions: Storage containers should be protected from any damage, sparks and flames. Outside or detached storage facilities are preferred. Maintain dry, well ventilated conditions for storage. Proper inspection should be done periodically.

Practices to Minimize Risk: Wear appropriate protective equipment while performing maintenance on contaminated equipments. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin or breathing of dust and vapors. Do not smoke or eat in areas where this material is placed/ handled. A complete soap and water shower should be taken at the end of each workday. Contaminated clothing should be properly washed separately from other laundry before reuse.

Special Handling Equipment: Closed system handling of liquid enamel may create excessive vapor concentrations in confined spaces; i.e., tanks, rail cars, tank trailers. Follow appropriate confined space entry procedures when entering any confined space that has been in liquid coal tar product services.

Waste Disposal: Dispose of this material in accordance with standard practice for disposal of potentially hazardous materials as required by applicable federal, state or local laws.
